Forum 2014 Student Scholarships

Student Scholarships Available
Forum 2014, Philadelphia, PA, July 16-20, 2014

Application deadline: February 28, 2014

The National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC) is pleased to offer scholarship support to qualified students of preservation programs to attend and participate in Forum 2014 in Philadelphia, PA, July 16-20. Forum is the only national conference focused on the needs and issues of preservation commissions, their staff, historic district property owners and communities with districts. Past attendees report NAPC’s Forum to be the best preservation conference for content and issues affecting local historic districts, for knowledge of local preservation trends, for understanding local preservation public policy challenges and for networking with preservationists from all fifty states.

NAPC is committed to investing a portion of its resources to introduce students of preservation programs to the NAPC through financial support and attendance at its programs and events.  For over 20 years, NAPC’s central offices have been at the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design, during which time NAPC has utilized student services to accomplish NAPC’s mission of education, advocacy, and training for local historic preservation commissions.  A high percentage of NAPC graduate assistants have secured quality jobs in the preservation field in large part with the networking opportunities at Forum.

NAPC’s scholarships provide (approximate total value: $520):
1. Registration to Forum ($100 for students)
2. Reimbursement for qualified travel and lodging expenses (up to $400)
3. Individual Membership for one year to the NAPC ($20 for students – click here for member benefits)

Recipients will be asked to volunteer at the conference. Volunteer activities may include assisting with registration, presenting a session, acting as a liaison or facilitating tours.  The NAPC, with its all-volunteer Board of Directors, finds that volunteering with the organization provides a unique and valuable opportunity to engage with membership and to learn more about the NAPC.

To qualify for consideration of a NAPC scholarship award, please submit your application by February 28, 2014 with notification from NAPC of the recipients on March 31, 2014.

All applications are to be sent electronically to Paul Trudeau, NAPC Program Director, at ptrudeau@uga.edu.
